The Harlem Arts Festival that will occur June 29-30, 2012 is a festival that will take place at the newly renovated Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park, free and open to the public, showcasing local performers and visual artists to inspire and nourish the artistic community in Harlem. It aims to promote arts education and literacy by implementing arts-related discussion forums, educational workshops, performance opportunities and activities for youth and family. This project will be part of Harlem’s addition to the larger, citywide commitment to provide free art in the public parks during the spring and summer months.
"The Last Fall" film directed by Matthew Cherry was successfully showcased at this year's SXSW film festival - thanks to their
kickstarter project. The film is about a pro-football player's life after the paparazzi disappears.
The Low End Theory is a continuing series of portraiture by an upcoming visual artist,
PS. This project, with the support of Kickstarter, will produce her first exhibition, The Low End Theory: The Art of Seeing Sounds, featuring the series of works that define The Low End Theory, named after the iconic, classic hip hop album by A Tribe Called Quest.
Detroit Expansion Tour featuring artists Nakia Henry and Dulcinea Detwah both hailing from Detroit, MI, and now residing in Brooklyn, NY. They both have big hearts, big sound and larger than life stage presence – the goal of the Detroit Expansion Tour is to share these elements with the world beyond the constraints of a laptop or electronic device. They want to share their art with you up close and personal. Although the two artists have very different sounds and styles they both share very unique perspectives of the Detroit sound and Brooklyn sentiment.
